IML assessment preparation in the Haut Giffre Valley
For you who are preparing your IML Winter Assessment in Salvagny in the Haut Giffre valley in March 2010, as the English-speaking Mountain Leader company established in the Haut-Giffre valley - we live in Sixt and Samoëns - since 2006, we are perfectly placed to help you with your preparations.
Both Aga and Gustav are neither English nor French (Aga is Polish and Gustav is Swedish), both are fully qualified Accompagnateurs en Montagne, the French equivalent of the IML award, and both are fully fluent in English (as well as French and their respective native language!).
We both live and work as Mountain Leaders in Samoëns and Sixt since several years, and we are both very familiar with the flora, fauna, geology and culture of the Haut Giffre area. In winter, we know where to find wildlife such as Chamois, Ibex and Mouflon and where the most likely places to spot Golden Eagle and Lammergeyer are. We know our animal tracks and other evidence that these and other animals leave of their presence and we are more than happy to share our knowledge and experience with you.
We are also experienced snow shelter builders, as igloo building is part of our offering to our clients. We can also assist with finding the best snow, inform on local avalanche conditions and anything else that involves local mountain knowledge and experience. And if you'd like to see how we work with local English- or French speaking customers, we can arrange for you to come out on one of our trips.
Prices
Please contact us for a quote. As a general idea, a fair salary for a mountain leader is at least 60 € for half a day's work and 120 € for a full day. This does not include any equipment rental, but does include local transport to and from our walks/training sites.
